About SOCRRA

SOCRRA is a municipal corporation founded in the early '50s. SOCRRA consists of twelve member municipalities with a total population of approximately 283,000 and covers an area of 75 square miles.

Member cities are Berkley, Beverly Hills, Birmingham, Clawson, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak and Troy.

SOCRRA oversees collection of recycling, trash, and yard waste for its member communities and operates three facilities including a trash transfer station, a compost facility, and the recycling facility.   SOCRRA also provides a drop-off center and household hazardous waste and electronics collection services.

SOCRRA’s longstanding dedication to advancing recycling to its member communities made SOCRRA the ideal recipient of grant funding to purchase the rolling recycling carts.  The funders are the Michigan Department of Environment and The Recycling Partnership, a nonprofit organization utilizing public-private partnerships to transform recycling all across America.
